So I took two months off. Dock my pay or something. Sheesh.
It's not too late to get a room... -- Monday, January 3, 2000
Great rooms still available for New Year's Eve.
Times Square Webcams -- Monday, January 3, 2000
"live images" my ASS.
Why Don't You Hear Black Artists on Alternative Radio? -- Saturday, December 25, 1999
Best quote: "Claiming rock 'n' roll as white music is like saying Buddy Guy and Robert Cray shouldn't be playing the blues because they lack the life experience and authenticity of Shannon Curfman and Jonny Lang."
Does Imani Coppola count? You used to hear that one song of hers ALL THE DAMN TIME.
One-Handed Twister -- Tuesday, December 14, 1999
From Ellen. She's always making stuff like this. But this one was just... funnier. Or more interactive or something.
New Robbie Fulks Song -- Tuesday, December 14, 1999
Yeah, I know, he's an alt.country singer/songwriter. But he's really good, trust me. Got a dark sense of humor. And he's been produced frequently by Steve Albini, which, depending on your opinion, is either a vote for or a vote against. His album "Let's Kill Saturday Night" is one of my very favorites.
If you like Lucinda Williams -- and last year, everybody liked Lucinda Williams -- you would like Robbie Fulks.
Told You This Wasn't Manson's Fault -- Tuesday, December 14, 1999
In one of their last home videos, the Columbine gunmen "willed" their copy of this album to one of their friends.
Another Fly page.
Yet another.
If you haven't heard of them yet, you probably will now.
NME reviews the Guns-N-Roses live set -- Monday, December 6, 1999
I just like this article for the first paragraph, which, let me warn you now, contains several bad words.
New Primal Scream album -- Sunday, December 5, 1999
First track is called "Kill All Hippies." :)
Music Lover -- Sunday, December 5, 1999
My favorite MP3 web site. Mainly concentrates on pop stuff, but that's usually the stuff I just want to download the mp3s for. And they have so many different charts! Who knew Delirium's "Silence" was still a Top 20 hit in... Australia?
Mp3 Stylee -- Sunday, December 5, 1999
My favorite dance mp3 hotline site. This guy has about five hours of Fatboy Slim live sets archived. You will need Hotline to access this site. If you don't have Hotline or one of its clones, you should.
John Travolta, Scientology, "Mission Earth" -- Sunday, December 5, 1999
Interesting Washington Post article from a little while back. Caution: Scientology spoilers, don't read it if you're still working on "ascending to the upper echelons" or something.
Thanks to David Poland for finding this.
Planet Click's "Family and Kids" Movies Category -- Saturday, December 4, 1999
Charlize Theron fights Teri Hatcher? "You know... for KIDS!"
Found this through the Shakes the Clown fan page, which received some kind of award from this category. They've got an odd definition of kids' movies.
My NEW Homepage --
Please check it out. It's, like, entirely different from how it used to be. New photos, new words, everything. It may give you an idea of where I'm coming from here.
Jerry-rigged 21" iMac -- Wednesday, December 1, 1999
Well, I suppose it's cool to have a 21" one-piece machine, but he picked about the ugliest case imaginable to do it. Was it really worth it? When I get mine, it's staying exactly where it belongs -- in its 13" graphite shell.
World AIDS Day: new remix of Under Pressure for download -- Wednesday, December 1, 1999
Hey, and it's a video. And it's in ASP format, which means Mac users are going to have to get the Windoze Media Player.
There is a beta version out now that runs like a top, but I cannot find the URL to download it. Let me get back to you on that... WAIT! I FOUND IT! (upd. 10:33pm 12/1)
Call me! Let's do lunch. Or not. -- Wednesday, December 1, 1999
So this is sort of a networking service. You can look at it that way. You can also look at it as a way to sign other people up and talk to them long-distance for free. If you sign up for this and call me and I'm not at work I just may answer. Please don't say "you ain't sheeit" and hang up.
The inspiration for this entry came from Andrew, the benevolent magnate of bn2b.com and pitas.com, whom, as far as I know, did not develop keen.com, although it almost sounds like something he might have registered and had to do something with.
MCI Logo Satire -- Wednesday, December 1, 1999
I guess you have to work for MCI, or be an MCI shareholder, or be way into MCI speculation, to really get into giggling fits at this. But somebody likes to fool around with Photoshop, that'sferdamnsure.
Kung-Fu Fonts in effect -- Wednesday, December 1, 1999
This site has a number of free fonts. Some are frivolous, some possibly useful, but I have become rather fond of a little number called "Funboy." It's sort of an "acid-washed Helvetica," and you'll soon be seeing it all over the place around here. For an idea of how it looks in action, admire my overhauled diary site at Diaryland.
I found this site through the free-font section of Mark Simple's Cardhouse art-links section. Cardhouse: It Just Tastes Better(tm).
