You don't say!
Damage Manual Interview -- Wednesday, May 10, 2000
Atkins, Connelly, Geordie, Wobble, in one band! "People who like this sort of thing will find this the sort of thing they like."
A Tremendously Entertaining Mistranslated Technical Document -- Wednesday, April 19, 2000
Looking for information on an old PDA we have floating around and came across this page. It was in French, so I translated it and found out there was a BROTHEL inside.
If you think this is funny, you may well enjoy/have enjoyed Tabouli.
Pitchfork reviews new Primal Scream -- Monday, April 17, 2000
This record will be released in the US in a few weeks, on Astralwerks. I like this review because of all the references. Gradius ship? Hah!
Slate article on fan fiction -- Monday, April 17, 2000
Never read much of it. Back in college, I wrote a Parker Lewis fanfic, scattered to the four winds on an obsolete and retired conferencing system. But I still find it arather intriguing phenomenon. I got this link from Slashdot, read it, and followed it to a site that had a filthy Iron Chef story, of all things. ("Fook-san," indeed!)
Great article on Robbie Fulks -- Friday, April 14, 2000
They love him in New York, too.
The Sorry State of GlobalTrak -- Thursday, April 13, 2000
We found this website last summer and giggled over the lengthy RealAudio clip of Geoffrey Holder talking about the Dream Dragon or some damn thing. But it looks like they have mostly given up on the kid-tracking angle.
Shout to Mark Simple for finding this update.
FAKE Steely Dan Webcam -- Thursday, April 13, 2000
Sad but true.
Harry Knowles gets misty -- Wednesday, April 12, 2000
A standard discussion of this olympiad's Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan weepie turns into a reflection on an online romance in the Early Days of The Internet.
NOTE: Using Ain't It Cool's search engine and searching for you've got mail revealed damned near everything on his site. I couldn't seem to find this again until I just clicked on the Y section of the Reviews index. I think this means that Ain't It Cool's search engine is really dumb.
"Charly says `Always tell your mummy before you go off somewhere.'" -- Thursday, April 6, 2000
Prodigy fansite archives ancient British public-service-announcement, sampled to great effect on way-old-school Prodigy track.
Replicas of Joe Friday's Badge -- Wednesday, April 5, 2000
I kinda want one.
RightGRRL! -- Wednesday, April 5, 2000
Darned if it ain't. I guess anyone can be a grrl. I was excited because they had a prominent link to Rightbot.com -- I was hoping it would be a news and resource site for right-wing-leaning robots -- but it turned out to be a yahoo ripoff.
Pokemon: A Christian Perspective -- Wednesday, April 5, 2000
To tide you over until the inevitable hysterical condemnation from the Landover Baptist site.
Essay on Laser Disc Arcade Games -- Tuesday, April 4, 2000
Despite being located at atarihq.com (motto: "A Site That Is Entirely Too Excited About The PlayStation Remake of Breakout"), they actually cover coinops from several different distributors. Seeing this page made me wonder whatever happened to...
...Starcade. -- Tuesday, April 4, 2000
A low-budget gameshow from the early eighties in which two adenoidal kids battled each other on stuff like "Tunnel Hunt" for VALUABLE PRIZES! (UPDATE: Holy Moses -- an OFFICIAL site with tons of QuickTime video clips! My eyes are welling up. Mostly from memories of being a small, arcade-crazed boy, but also from the god-awful pink-based color scheme.)
The same production company also did a show called "The Video Game," a more gameshowy concept with console and home-computer games, but I didn't see it that many times.
Contest Progress Log Alert -- Tuesday, April 4, 2000
It moved to a new site. Also, Ric Thinks He Has a Girlfriend! Joy.

Michelle Forbes -- Tuesday, April 4, 2000
Not a household name yet, but a good pal of mine is way into her, and unlike some of his previous actress crushes, I happen to think she's kinda neat, too.
Officer Ugg Coloring Book -- Tuesday, April 4, 2000
"Practice the `Salute.'"
Tricky gets a little (Bad) Religion -- Monday, April 3, 2000
Tricky's gone way indie -- his new label is Epitaph, them of NOFX, Offspring, and Rancid fame. Of course, his own label, Durban Poison, has been a Unipolyversalgram-free indie for, oh, as long as it's been.
Google introduces MentalPlex searching -- Saturday, April 1, 2000
My favorite search engine becomes my even more favoriter search engine. I think it knows how much I love it. (Also noted: Google informed me it "detected Portuguese thoughts" and translated the results "appropriately," and suddenly everything was in German. :)
New Book Questions Official Death Stories of Tupac, Others -- Saturday, April 1, 2000
My brother still swears up, down, and sideways that Mobb Deep killed Tupac. He also concurs, though, that Tupac "talked so much shit, anybody could've done it."
Ultima Impresario Leaves Origin -- Friday, March 31, 2000
Richard Garriott -- "Lord British" -- leaving Origin? I don't buy it. Not today. Not with Ultima 9 about to come out, or out now, or whatever. I don't play those games.
Apache http server ported to PalmOS -- Friday, March 31, 2000
Which means I'll be dropping the $100 for the grey-market memory upgrade and moving my sites to my PalmV pretty soon? Not until they port a mail server. ;)
Shaun, Paul, George, and Ringo -- Friday, March 31, 2000
And no Bez, curiously enough. (Followup -- April Fool! Of course.)
