The Best High School Bully Story I Have Ever Heard
Warning: Contains references to lifestyles.
Skot Memorial Page
You will probably hear a lot about this in future e-mail forwards. This guy was vandalizing a street light so that the sky would be darker and he could use his telescope, and he was electrocuted.
His IRC friends put up this page to memorialize their "where were you when you heard?" grief.
H.A. Halpert's Very Wordy Weblog
People occasionally compliment me on this log by telling me it's well-written, if
a little bit too full of blurbs about Tricky. Well, this is the mother of all
well-written weblogs. If FoxNews bought TLC, H.A. would
probably be their pre-millennium Matt Drudge, getting thrashed
nightly by Larry King but looking and sounding very smart
in the process. H.A. apparently has a game-research job (sounds beauteous),
and so LemonYellow was kind enough to provide a link to a fine
essay on the emphasis on story in Nintendo games, albeit
concentrating primarily on old-school Nintendo games.
Ann Arbor Rowing Club
This is the group I row with once or twice a week. I'm
not as hardcore into it as my dad or my younger brother
(he rows for U-M Crew, below) but when I can motivate myself
to get out of bed at a time when I really should be getting
sleep, the results speak for themselves. I actually managed
to lose most of the pounds I put on over the past year working
at a place where the lunches are catered by KFC, BK, and... Pizza House.
U-M Men's Rowing Homepage
"There's nothing more important than screensavers, desktop wallpaper, sounds, and porn."
I like the attitude on this page, particularly the little jabs taken at the women's team and the UM athletic department. Scroll to the bottom for a Scott Baio cameo!
I Just Want To Be Friends
This is one of the most bitter, funny, true websites ever. Years of observation have led me to believe that this may happen to almost every guy once or twice in his life. At least, the ones that don't look like Tom Cruise.
What a Bunch of Letdowns
This fellow has a fetish for women with wings. On this page he decided to cry foul on sites that sounded like they might have something to do with women with wings and then didn't. I don't know how he expected this to strengthen his case that women with wings is some healthy kind of fetish, but hey, it's his website.
Rudolph Giuliani for Senate
A parody site created by the culture slammers at @rtmark in the tradition of their previous gwbush.com stunt.
How CD Pressing Plants Work
From one of the staff people at Nimbus, one of the big pressing plants, I guess.
There's your educational content for the day.
Alphabetical List of All Known Phobias
Um, pretty self-explanatory. I would hope that some of these terms could be applied to the vast majority of the earth's citizens...
Hyperbolic Film-Review Quotes, Summer 99
This is apparently a semi-regular feature in Variety, not that I'd know -- I seldom have time to read any movie news beyond Entertainment Weekly or David Poland, who suggested the above link to his readers, and who wrote the Anaconda blurb.
A Request for my Pittsburgh-area Readers
So I was in the line for the Magnum at Cedar Point earlier this week, and these two friendly women in line behind us started talking to my cousin and I. I told her I'd been to Pittsburgh before for rowing competitions, and she said "you?" and giggled, then straightened up, explaining that she'd been thinking of a different kind of rowing.
Repeated efforts to draw the other entendre out of her, including "admitting" that I probably do the other kind of rowing whatever it is, failed.
If anybody here knows what she's talking about, please enlighten me?
Today is Megan's Birthday, Everyone Go Go Go
Hey there. I had yesterday off work. I had today off, too, but I felt bad about not putting anything here in case someone else is reading this. Anyway, today is Megan's birthday. Go check out her web page! You look far and wide enough, you might find some pictures of me on it.
All Detroit is Abuzz Over The Swanky New Poor Tax
Come for the cute little kitty; stay for the "top quality international action food stations."
Webcam Pointed At New MGM Detroit Casino
Just so you know this isn't a dream and it's really there.
I have to admit, they did a nice job refurbing the old IRS building and I can scarcely imagine what the new one will look like.
The Whymilk.com splashpage
If you ask me, that illustration makes the men of KISS
look very coprophagous.
And the "milk" dripping off his "tongue?" Positively "yuck."
Relaunched, redesigned PWEI Nation site!
Pop Will Eat Itself has been broken up for a number of years (one of the guys scored the Pi movie, two of the others formed the cool dance combo Bentley Rhythm Ace) but the fan site is still going strong! They just redesigned it to closely echo the recent work of the futuristic UK design collective DR. And, they finally got their own domain!
Hello, Tabouli readers!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank mr. bjorn porn for making me one of the semi-consistent links at the fascinating Tabouli site: "The Ultimate Collision of Breaking International News and Broken English." That's a slogan you can have for free, my man.
If you didn't come here from Tabouli and haven't visited there yet, consider the above link your formal invitation to check it out. Go on, I'll be here when you get back, and maybe I'll even have a new link for you to chase!
Detroit Grand Prix
On Sunday, I was in the stands at the annual Detroit Grand Prix, over on Belle Isle, a little island park just off of downtown Detroit. Like the obedient corporate cog I can be, I cheered relentlessly for the the MCIWORLDCOM team, who were holding their own. Their new guy, in the cool blue car, was on his way to a somewhere-in-the-middle finish until he got hit from behind and plowed into the wall. There wasn't much left of the car, unfortunately. I didn't bother trying to schmooze my way into the MCI courtesy tent...
Also see the official CART site, organizers of this and many other car races.
Star Wars Lego Comics
Apparently these are a teaser to get you to install Shockwave, but I like 'em the way they is.
Dave Matthews fans riot
Now, maybe everyone will give KMFDM and Manson a rest.
NetBaby World!
Unfotunately-named Swedish design firm Acne challenges Sanrio for cute, big-headed character supremacy! Have Shockwave to play games.
Britain's Pitas Archive:
Here, you can find all my old links: The lyrics to "O.P.P." in broken English, Blair Witch parodies, several of the more outspoken members of the global village, and Tricky's ghetto-fabulous new album is much anticipated! Also, the official Britain Pitas theme song is revealed. Every time you click this link, the American Yuppie Flu Society gets three cents.
